Take Flight at Aviation Academy in Changi Airport Terminal 3 (3 Oct 2011)

bwd  Set 1/13  fwd

Our next learning journey took place on 3 October and this time was to the Aviation Academy.

When we arrived at Singapore Aviation Academy, the guides led us into a lecture theatre and played a short video for us. Then we answered nine questions about aviation which determined our personalities.  We were then grouped into nine groups which represented nine jobs within the Aviation Industry.  The nine jobs are aviation regulation, airlines, air cargo logistics, air navigation services, aerospace engineering, aviation education and training, business and general aviation, research and development, airport management and services.  From this, we found out about more jobs within the aviation industry.  We also realized that different people have different personalities, so we should choose a suitable job in the future.

It was also an eye opener to know about the many airports and airport terminals that Singapore has had.  We have had 4 airports so far, namely Seletar Airport, Paya Lebar Airport, kallang Airport and Changi Airport. It is clearly a well thought out vision of the leaders then. Even with limited space, Singapore is now an International hub for many airlines. That certainly is amazing!

Then, we went to Changi Airport and visited the Singapore Aviation Centennial Exhibition. The exhibition’s theme is “our future”.  We learnt more about the aviation industry’s development, like the introduction of the Airbus and some high technology which can make passengers’ journeys more comfortable.

Overall, we think that this Learning Journey was quite interesting.  Our guides made our journey a fruitful one with their explanations and activities.  We are certainly very happy about this insight into the Aviation Industry.
