Geography Field Trip for Lower Secondary (24 May 2011)

bwd  Set 1/3  fwd

Behind every building that pushes up into the skyline that is Singapore is a "storey". A "storey" of inspired dreams, thoughtful planning, careful execution, and lessons for the future.

Geography is perhaps best experienced outside the classroom and on 24 May 2011, we got a glimpse of that at the Singapore City Gallery located at the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) building. Guided by our Geography teacher, Ms Wee Ee Leen, we explored the various miniature cityscape models showcased at the gallery, and busied outselves identifying the Lilliputian-sized landmarks on the giant 3D architectural model that offers a bird's eye view of Singapore's central area.

We also had a hand at the various interactive terminals to see how Singapore overcame land constraints with creative land use solutions over the years.

The field trip to the URA was an eye-opening experience where we learnt more about the urban landscape of Singapore and the new buildings and projects planned for the years to come. We discovered interesting bits of information on Singapore's land use that supplements what we learned in Geography class.
